SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk Transit announced the introduction of fare-free Saturdays as a part of the City of Suffolk’s 50th anniversary.

Fare-free Saturdays is scheduled to start on July 20, 2024 and go through the end of the year.

“We are pleased to announce that, effective immediately and extending through the remainder of the calendar year, we will be offering complimentary fares on Saturdays,” Transit Manager Maria Ptakowski said. “This initiative reflects our commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for our city’s residents, and aims to encourage more residents to use public transportation, where they will find it reliable, comfortable, and safe.”

Those who wish to use the bus are encouraged to use the ETA SPOT mobile app, which provides real-time arrival predictions.
