SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will continue to operate under its normal summer schedule.

Initially, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced a reduced service schedule for the ferry. However, VDOT decided to stick with the schedule that went into effect on May 27 in order to accommodate the increase in passengers during the summer travel season.

Additionally, VDOT is seeking to fill job vacancies for ferry crew members. Openings include the position of Chief Engineer. According to VDOT, there is an industry-wide shortage for these critical, certified maritime positions. Those interested in applying should visit the VDOT careers page.
