VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Fire Department assisted the U.S. Coast Guard after a boat caught fire off the coast on March 8, officials said.
The mayday call came in around 3:30 a.m. for a vessel on fire. The 75-foot yacht, the Motor Vessel Savage, was on fire about three miles off the coast of Cape Henry.
Three adults were rescued by a pilot boat after they jumped into the water. There are no reported injuries, and the VBFD and Coast Guard are still managing the fire, VBFD said.
The boat was towed to Ft. Story, and Coast Guard Station Little Creek is on scene monitoring the situation.
