VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) recently celebrated the installation of its 500th bus shelter. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Friday, April 5 in Virginia Beach.

On hand for the event were President and CEO of Hampton Roads Transit William Harrell, Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer, Rob Howard, Chief Investment Officer of Gold Key/PHR Hotels and Resorts, Virginia Beach Councilwoman Amelia Ross-Hammond Ph.D. and other guests.

“The Resort City is just weeks away from kicking another busy summer season, and these shelters coupled with the VB Wave service will prove to be a resource for residents, tourist and certainly hotel staff,” said President and CEO of Hampton Roads Transit William Harrell.

The shelter was installed at the historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club in Virginia Beach.

“Lets face it, transportation is a major challenge everywhere, but we have the professionals at HRT that are confronting those challenges by doing great things,” said Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer.
