Police officer treated for possible smoke inhalation after crews respond to fire at Weekly Lodging in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Crews in Virginia Beach responded to a commercial fire at Weekly Lodging early Saturday, during which, one police officer received treatment for possible smoke inhalation.

According to emergency communications, crews received a call about a building fire in the 5700 block of Northampton Boulevard around 4:40 a.m.


Crews arrived and reported heavy fire showing from the building and that a first-floor room was fully engulfed.

Officials say the fire was put out a short time later.

Additionally, officials say one police officer was transported to a local hospital “as a precaution for smoke inhalation.” 

No other civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
