VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Dispatch confirmed that police were investigating an incident involving a group of juveniles at a local mall Saturday evening.
The possible incident was reported at the Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach.
In response to a 10 On Your Side inquiry about the incident, a representative from Brookfield Properties’ Retail Group, the mall’s Public Relation Management, said Lynnhaven Mall was “closed early due to the disruptive youth (teens). We are very disheartened by the incident for our commercial retail community.”
A spokesperson with Virginia Beach Police said in a statement released Sunday that there were reports of a “group of teenagers that kept getting into fights.” Additional units were called in to assist and prevent any escalation.
The spokesperson also said there were no injuries reported, no shooting occurred, and no known weapon violations “as rumored.”
10 On Your Side is working to learn of any additional details. No further information is available at this time.
