VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police say an investigation into a shooting in Virginia Beach Saturday night was determined to be a case of an accidental discharge of a weapon.
The call came in just before 8:30 p.m. for a report of a “gunshot wound victim” in the 500 block of Glenn Regis Way.
According to a Virginia Beach Police spokesperson, the suspect in this case was handing a firearm when it accidentally fired, striking the victim.
Police have not provided information on the victim’s condition.
The suspect, 21-year-old Christopher Leigh Patton, was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm.
