VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The results of one poll are in — most people thought the inaugural Something in the Water Festival was “awesome.”
Virginia Beach City Manager David Hansen noted in a May 17 letter to council members and Mayor Bobby Dyer the overall response to the three-day festival has been “overwhelmingly positive.”
In the letter, Hansen included the results of a poll stemming from a city-facilitated texting service.

The service kept more than 9,000 users informed with updates over the course of the festival. Of those users, just over 1,600 responded to the survey sent out immediately after the festival ended, Hansen said in the letter.
The survey asked users to describe their festival experience — with answer choices ranging from “Waste of Money” (1) to “Awesome” (10). Approximately 80% of people who responded chose “Awesome.”
Hansen noted that close to 95% of the people who took the survey rated the festival an 8 or higher.
