VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A family in Virginia Beach found themselves in a bit of a sticky situation after Tropical Storm Michael toppled a large tree outside their home.

Not only did they have to figure out how to remove the tree itself, they also had to deal with what was living inside of it.

When the tree fell outside the home on 20th Street and Cypress Avenue at the Oceanfront, thousands of bees began to swarm.

The family called local swarmchaser Jay Houk for his honeybee removal services; he actually specializes in Cypress beehives. He came out Friday to save as many bees as he could and to collect the honey combs and larvae. The homeowner even got to sample the fresh honey, and despite being surrounded by the bees, she says she was never stung.
