VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Applications are now open for two grants that provide arts, humanities or cultural programming and services in Virginia Beach.
The Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission is accepting applications for Community Cultural Arts Grants and Leadership & Organizational Development Grants.
Community Cultural Arts Grants are designed to create cultural equity in the Virginia Beach art by providing support for arts-based projects that reflect the city’s changing communities through innovative and culturally rooted projects. The project must take place in Virginia before June 30, 2025. However, organizations do not have to be based in Virginia Beach.
The Community Cultural Grant cycle for FY25 has three rounds based on availability of funds:
- The round one deadline is at 5 p.m. on Aug. 16, 2024. Round one presentations will take place at the Sept. 5, 2024, Arts & Humanities Commission meeting.
- The round two deadline is at 5 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2024. Round two presentations will take place at the Dec. 5, 2024, Arts & Humanities Commission meeting.
- If funds are still available, the round three submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2025. Round three presentations will take place at the March 27-28, 2025, Arts & Humanities Commission meetings.
Leadership & Organizational Development Grants are designed to help arts and humanities leaders develop leadership skills.
Only organizations operating in Hampton Roads are eligible for the $1,250 grant. Funds for the Leadership & Organizational Development Grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Those interested must submit their application no less than 12 business days prior to an Arts & Humanities Commission meeting.
Applications for project grants will reopen in December.
