VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A wanted man barricaded himself in his apartment after threatening to shoot Virginia Beach Police officers.
It happened Monday just before 9 p.m. when officers were attempting to arrest 32-year-old Trevor Crawford.
As police were pulling into the 500 block of 18th Street, Crawford — a wanted felon — was attempting to leave in a car officers later determined was stolen.
When confronted by police, Crawford refused to comply, flashed a gun in his waistband and threatened to shoot the officers, according to Virginia Beach Police.
Crawford then went inside his apartment. Officers tried unsuccessfully to call him out of his apartment, and ultimately had to call in the SWAT Team to respond to the barricade situation.
SWAT was able to make entry into the apartment and take Crawford into custody around 3:30 Tuesday morning.
Police also arrested Stephanie Davis, 30, and charged her with obstruction of justice. According to the release, additional charges against Davis are pending.
Crawford was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, threats against a law enforcement officer and felony possession of a firearm.
Additionally, police served Crawford with five open warrants for his arrest.
