VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach recently launched a small business grant program.
This program is aimed at helping small, women, minority, veteran or disabled veteran-owned Virginia Beach businesses grow and expand.
“Virginia Beach Development Authority recognizes the need to increase access of funding for qualified small businesses,” said Deputy City Manager Amanda Jarratt. “We continue our commitment to serving historically underserved and marginalized small businesses by creating an inclusive economy in Virginia Beach.”
Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to eligible Virginia Beach businesses for the purchase of inventory, marketing, development of an online or mobile presence, equipment or supplies purchases, business expansion or for real estate acquisition.
The grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis based upon availability of funds, compliance with program guidelines and submission of a complete application.
Recipients of the grants will also have access to technical expertise and mentorship on topics such as legal services, financial analysis and digital marketing.
In order to be eligible for the grant, small business owners must attend a pre-application workshop offered by the Virginia Beach HIVE Business Resource Center.
