VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery after he stopped at a Food Lion to get snacks.

Lixander Paniagua-Maravilla wanted pick up some snacks to take home at the Food Lion on Ferrell Parkway. While there, he picked up a Let’s Make a Deal ticket from the Virginia Lottery.

That ticket ended up winning the game’s $100,000 top prize.

“I screamed a little bit!” the Virginia Beach man told Lottery officials, describing the moment he realized how much he’d won.

He was the second top prize winner in the Let’s Make a Deal scratcher, which means one more top prize remains. The game features prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. The odds of winning the top prize in this game are 1 in 1,305,600. The odds of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.28.

Paniagua-Maravilla is a carpenter and said he has no immediate plans for his winnings.
