Virginia Beach police officer arrested; accused of child sex crimes

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A grand jury that met Monday handed down six indictments against a Virginia Beach Police officer who was arrested in connection to child sex crimes.

After an investigation by the VBPD’s Special Investigations and Internal Affairs Bureaus, 31-year-old Kyle LaLonde was arrested and charged with attempt indecent liberties with a child less than 15 years of age, attempt indecent liberties, entice a minor to perform in child pornography, propose sex act by communication system with a child less than 15 years of age, solicitation to commit a felony and possession of child pornography.

The allegations tell a story of a Virginia Beach Police officer accused of sex acts.

The bottom line is that LaLonde, sworn to uphold the law, is now accused of breaking it.

He is still currently employed as a police officer with Virginia Beach, but we’re told he has been relieved of his police powers as he deals with these devastating indictments.

He is also in the Virginia Beach Jail without bond.

As we pulled up to the parent’s house where LaLonde said he lives, 10 On Your Side saw the garage door close.

No one would answer the front door.

The alleged crimes took place between Sept. 13 and Oct. 20, 2023.

The grand jury found there’s evidence to suggest LaLonde attempted to take indecent liberties for a sexual act with a 12-year-old female.

The last indictment was alleged possession of child pornography — sexually explicit visual material, image of a minor female meeting the definition of child pornography.

LaLonde’s arrest followed an investigation by the VBPD’s Special Investigations and Internal Affairs bureaus.

He was denied bond on Friday.
