VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Girls ages four to nine in Virginia and Maryland will have the opportunity to play hockey at no cost as a part of the second annual DMV Girls Try Hockey for Free Day.
According to a release, the DMV Girls Try Hockey for Free Day is a joint effort between the Washington Capitals, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association (PVAHA) and various youth hockey organizations to give girls the opportunity to try hockey at no cost.
All required hockey equipment will also be provided at no cost, and no experience is necessary.
During 2023’s Girls Try Hockey for Free Day, over 300 girls ages 4-9 participated, with more than 30% registering to continue to play.
The Hampton Roads Junior Admirals at Iceland Family Skating Center in Virginia Beach will participate in the event, which is scheduled to take place on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.
