Virginia NAACP names Melanie Campbell as keynote speaker for Freedom Fun Gala

RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — The NAACP Virginia State Conference (Virginia NAACP) announced Melanie Campbell, President/CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, will be the keynote speaker for the Freedom Fun Gala.

“Ms. Campbell is recognized as one of the hardest-working servant leaders in today’s Civil Rights, Women’s Rights and Social Justice Movement. Her dedication and commitment to building our next generation and ongoing work in empowering the Black community to be civically engaged, makes her the perfect choice as our keynote speaker,” says Rev. Cozy Bailey, president.


The Virginia NAACP will also welcome Gregory Neal Jackson Jr., Deputy Director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, as special guest for the Youth Leadership Luncheon and Rev. Dr. Carlon Lassiter, Pastor, Saint John Baptist Church, as special guest speaker for the Unity Worship Service.

The 89th Annual Convention will be held on Friday, Oct. 11 – Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Williamsburg, Virginia.
