NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A teenager was charged after a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist Thursday afternoon on Route 13 in Northampton County.
Virginia State Police clarified on Friday that the crash happened around 3:20 p.m. in the Cheriton area just north of Cape Charles. Police say the 17-year-old girl was attempting to turn left from southbound Route 13 onto North Bayside Road when she struck a motorcyclist who was heading north on Route 13.
The motorcyclist, 20-year-old Devin M. Marcum of Smyrna, Delaware, died at the scene.
The 17-year-old meanwhile was charged with failure to yield right of way.
The crash remains under investigation, police say.
