VSP: One dead after single-vehicle crash in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A person is dead after a crash in Newport News on Saturday night, police said.

Around 7:50 p.m., Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash. A Ford Mustang was traveling west on I-64 in the center lane when the driver lost control and ran off the roadway into a guardrail.


The driver, Christopher R. Deigel, 40, of North Stonignton, Conn., was ejected and died at the scene.  He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers.

Virginia State police are still investigating the crash.
