PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — This past July 4 holiday continued to be another year for deadly crashes in Virginia with six killed, according to Virginia State Police.

Initial data has shown that during the five-day period designated as part of the July 4 holiday, six fatal crashes occurred throughout Virginia.

One was a pedestrian struck in a hit-and-run crash, four were drivers and one was a passenger. The fatal crashes took place in Richmond and the counties of Bedford, Charles City, Henrico and Wythe. Two of the fatal crashes occurred in Bedford County.
