CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A state trooper was injured while responding to a vehicle crash in Chesapeake on Sunday, March 10.
Around 12:50 a.m., a state trooper responded to an overturned vehicle crash on I-464 in the area of Military Highway and Freeman Avenue of Chesapeake.
As the trooper drove onto I-464 from the Military Highway on ramp, the trooper hit the back of a 2018 Honda Accord stopped in the travel lane.
The Honda had two people in the car and they weren’t seriously injured. The trooper was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation revealed that the driver had witnessed the crash the trooper was responding to, and positioned and parked his vehicle in the traffic lane. The car had the hazard lights activated to prevent other vehicles from striking the overturned vehicle.
No charges were placed.
