VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The first transgender candidate to run for Virginia Beach City Council announced her campaign this week.
Allison White is a teacher in the International Baccalaureate Program at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk. According to her Facebook page, White has taught at the school for 14 years.
In a statement Thursday, the Virginia Beach native said she would be making education a priority in her candidacy.
“As a teacher I believe that we should make the investment into our future to create opportunities for the city,” the statement read.
