VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Motorcyclists took to the streets Sunday morning to raise money for autism.
The ‘Maci’s Ride’ event was in support of six-year-old Virginia Beach resident Maci — who has autism.
Her grandfather, Tom Gorney, says they’ve held the event for the past few years with a lot of success. Last year they raised nearly $5,000.
Gorney’s goal for the event is to not only raise money, but awareness.
“When you have an autistic child or granchildren, you see what the parents go through trying to get the help and so forth and we thought it was just a good way to raise some money to put funds to educate and help take care of the kids and give the parents a break,” Gorney said.
All the money raised goes to the Tidewater Autism Society.
