Man caught with loaded handgun at Norfolk airport

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was caught with a loaded gun in a carry-on bag Monday morning at Norfolk International Airport.

Transportation Security Administration say the 40 caliber was loaded with 13 bullets, including one in the chamber. The man was detained for questioning at the airport.

Officials say people who bring weapons to a checkpoint can get fined up to $13,000. A typical first offense for a handgun at a checkpoint is $3,900.
