HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – Cities and counties across Hampton Roads are celebrating Memorial Day this year in remembrance of our military service members.

Chesapeake

Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m.
Where: City Council Chamber – City Hall – 306 Cedar Road

Chesapeake’s Annual Memorial Day Observance is presented by The Mayor’s Commission on Veterans Affairs. The event is open to the public.

Norfolk

Memorial Day Commemoration to honor fallen service members
When: Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m.
Where: Mt. Olive Cemetery, Obendorfer Rd. and Berkley Ave Ext.

The Berkley Historical Society and the Attucks American legion Post Five are honoring the men and women who have given their lives serving in the military. The event will feature traditional African drumming and a walking tour of If These Grounds Could Talk. Visitors are encouraged to bring a flag or flowers to place on service members’ graves.

Norfolk Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, May 27 at 2 p.m.
Where: Nauticus Theater

Featured speaker will be Vice Admiral Bruce H. Lindsey, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command The U.S. Fleet Forces Band will play. 

Virginia Beach

Tidewater Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, May 27 at noon
Where: Tidewater Veterans Memorial, 1000 19th St.

Mayor Robert M. Dyer will be the keynote speaker. The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Honor Guard Unit-Rifle will provide a 21-Gun Salute, and then followed by the Invocation by Chaplain David Yemington. 

Portsmouth

135th Memorial Day Parade
When: Monday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: High Street Corridor 

A Portsmouth tradition since 1884, the Memorial Day parade is one of the oldest parades in the country commemorating Memorial Day. The annual event salutes service members in the military. Enjoy the floats and marching bands from around the area.

Newport News

Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m.
Where: Victory ARch at 25th St. and West Ave. in downtown Newport News

After the ceremony, the public is invited to learn about America’s military heritage at the Virginia War Museum for a $1 off of the general admission prices.

Hampton

Memorial Day Ceremonial Band
When: Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 
Where: Hampton National Cemetery

Join the U.S Army TRADOC Band at the Hampton National Cemetery. The event is free and open to the public.

Suffolk

Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m.
Where: Albert G. Horton, Jr. memorial Veterans Cemetery

The Memorial Day Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Isle of Wight

Memorial Day Service
When: Monday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where Veterans Memorial at N. Church Street.

The ceremony is being held at the Smithfield Veterans Memorial at the corner of North Church and Luter Street. Attendees are encouraged to attend lunch at American Legion Post 49 on S. Church St. after the ceremony.
