NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group is coming home.

The Navy announced Wednesday that the group will return to their respective homeports this weekend after a nine-month deployment.

USS Eisenhower was engaged in combat operations in the Middle East to from November 2023 to June 2024. The ship then traveled to the Gulf of Aden to defend commercial ships against Houthi Rebels.

Its crew successfully escorted 28 vessels, expended more than 80 air-to-air missiles and 350 air-to-surface weapons, launched more than 120 standard missiles and 100 TLAMs during defense operations and preplanned strikes against Houthi targets.

Pilots aboard the Eisenhower logged more than 31,000 flight hours, and successfully completed over 10,000 aircraft launches and recoveries.

Homecoming events for CVW 3 will take place on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13.
