WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — A former flight attendant is making a trek from Boston’s Logan Airport all the way to Ground Zero in New York City.
The beverage cart that he is pushing is like an actual beverage cart from an airplane. It weighs about 60 lbs. Veneto is greeted by well wishers all along his route, getting escorts from local police and fire departments, and being cheered on by local residents.
Paul Veneto says with each breath of the 200+ mile trip, he’s thinking of his flight attendant colleagues from the 4 flights that crashed on Sept. 11, 2001.
“I don’t know the what the words are, but I know it’s something that’s driving me,” Veneto said.
He does all of this for free, saying he made it his own personal priority to make sure that people do not forget what he calls the first, first responders in the sky on Sept. 11.
