(WAVY) — Monday was the last, safe day to eat your Thanksgiving leftovers, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole…all of your classic Thanksgiving dishes can last up to three to four days in your refrigerator after your holiday dinner, but the USDA says you need to toss them after day four.
You can freeze your leftovers, but you must use them within two to six months for the best quality, according to the USDA.
Always remember to thaw your frozen food items in the fridge because, the USDA says, any parts of the food that reaches room temperature from being left out can quickly become a breeding ground for bacteria.
