LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A private plane carrying Karol G had to make an emergency landing at a Los Angeles airport on Thursday night.

The Grammy-award-winning singer’s Gulfstream jet landed safely at Van Nuys Airport around 9 p.m. following reports of smoke in the cockpit.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reportedly met the jet on the tarmac and said they found no signs of a fire.

There were 16 passengers aboard the flight and none were hurt.

“A twin-engine Gulfstream IV landed safely at Van Nuys Airport in California around 9 p.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 29 after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit,” the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement Friday obtained by CNN. “The flight departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport and was headed to El Salvador International Airport.”

The Colombian reggaeton artist is scheduled to perform in Guatemala City Friday.
