NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner (D-Va.) have announced more than $5 milllion will be made available for HIV treatment in Norfolk.

The senators said in a joint news release the federal funding is provided through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ HIV Emergency Relief Project Grant program.

This program seeks to enhance access to care for low-income people and families with HIV.

“We are pleased to announce federal funding to help those with HIV in Norfolk get the care they deserve,” the senators said in a statement.
