DENVER (KDVR) — A Delta Air Lines pilot is suing an elevator company after an incident at Denver International Airport, where he claims his foot was “swallowed” by a faulty moving walkway.
Delta pilot Ken Gow claims he was making his way though Concourse A on Nov. 4, 2022, when he felt a surge of pain in his foot and collapsed. He says he looked over and saw his foot and shoe had been “swallowed” by the walkway, which was allegedly missing a plate.
Footage shared with Nexstar’s KDVR appears to show the moment Gow gets caught in the walkway and falls to the ground.
An image shared by Gow’s attorneys also appears to show the missing plate at the end of the walkway.
Gow, in the lawsuit, is claiming he suffered injuries to his foot and ankle, resulting in severe pain from inflamed tendons, a strain to his Achilles tendon and bone contusions. He also said he had to complete physical therapy and suffered emotional distress and mental anguish, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit accuses TKE, the operator of the moving walkways and escalators at DIA, of being negligent and failing to properly repair or maintain the walkway, resuling in the pilot’s injury. KDVR reached out to the elevator company for a response but had not heard back as of Tuesday evening.
Gow is requesting a jury trial and seeking monetary compensation for damages.
