HESPERIA, Calif. (WCMH) – Police in California say a registered sex offender pretended to be a woman in order to lure victims to his home.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, several females, including a 17-year-old reported being lured to the home of Arturo Alfred Martinez under false pretenses.
Deputies said Martinez would solicit women through social media and website services using a false name. Those sites included babysitting services, cleaning services, taxi services, real estate companies and other delivery type businesses.
They said he also disguised his voice to appear female.
After a search warrant was executed at his home, Martinez was arrested for contact with a minor with the intent to commit a sexual act. Martinez is already a registered sex offender for an indecent exposure conviction.
He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Detectives believe Martinez may have other victims.
