KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The suspect in the shooting death of a Dickson County Sheriff’s Deputy has been taken in to custody, according to the state’ investigative bureau.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tweeted out a photo of Steve Wiggins announcing he’s capture at 9 a.m. Friday.
Wiggins, 31, was wanted by authorities for first degree murder related to the shooting death of Dickson County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Daniel Baker and for aggravated assault and theft of property.
Sgt. Daniel Baker was shot and killed after responding to a report of a suspicious car on Sam Vineyard Road.
Baker was later found dead inside his patrol car about two or three miles away from the initial scene. The deputy’s GPS system was used to locate his patrol car after there had not been any contact with him.
On Wednesday night, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged Erika Castro-Miles with murder in connection with the death of Baker. Authorities said they found information that she participated in the shooting.
A reward of $46,000 was being offered for information leading to Wiggins’ capture.
