(WJW) – Target has announced the dates of its 2024 Car Seat Trade-In Event, giving shoppers the opportunity to trade in their old car seats for a 20% discount on future qualifying purchases.
This year’s event begins Sunday, April 14, and runs through Saturday, April 27, the retailer confirmed.
During that time, Target shoppers wishing to redeem the offer are instructed to leave their old car seats — even damaged or expired seats — in a drop-box located the customer service desk. Customers can then scan a QR code located on the box (or a sign nearby) and click the prompt reading “Add to Target Circle Bonus,” according to Target.
Guests will see the 20% off “bonus” added to the wallet of their Target app.
The bonus can be applied toward qualifying purchases including “a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear” online or in stores through May 11. Each bonus is also redeemable twice before the expiration date.
Target says all stores will be participating in the event, with the exception of “small-format” locations.
Additional details can be found at the event’s FAQ page.
Target says its annual trade-in program has collected over 2.6 million old car seats since the inaugural event in 2016. The car seats, according to Target, are broken down for recycling and used to make “new products such as pallets, plastic buckets and construction materials such as steel beams and carpet padding.”
