GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — An East Carolina University student and her therapy dog are looking to help others.

Elise Thomas and Fae’s journey started when Fae was eight weeks old when Thomas brought Fae home as her service dog. After training, Fae was responsible for bringing Thomas her medication and assisting with panic attacks as well as PTSD.

Thomas’ need for Fae’s assistance has decreased so she is working to semi-retire Fae as her service dog. However, Fae is trained to assist and provide support for others.

This led to Thomas getting certified as a therapy dog handler while Fae obtained her therapy dog certification. Although Thomas still needs Fae by her side from time to time, Fae can be an assistance in more ways than one.

Now that the pair is certified, Thomas and Fae are looking for places such as schools, libraries and mental health facilities to provide support.
