KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — It seems like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce just can’t get enough when it comes to games.

Kelce is in talks to host a rebooted version of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” for Amazon Prime, according to sources for Variety and Deadline. Details of the project have not yet been made public, though Variety said the series would be “celebrity-focused.”

There’s no news on how soon the project will launch, but Variety’s sources said there are concerns about how the job could impact Kelce’s NFL career.

“Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” premiered in 2007. Hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, adult contestants were tasked with answering questions pulled from elementary school textbooks. The contestants could turn to a group of fifth-graders for help on those questions.

After multiple seasons on Fox, the game show moved to Nickelodeon in 2019, where it was hosted by John Cena.

Representatives for Amazon Prime and Kelce have not yet responded to the reports. Kelce did, however, admit he is “a nerd at heart” during the latest episode of “New Heights,” his podcast with brother and retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

Hosting a game show would be Travis Kelce’s latest foray into non-football show business. He has hosted “Saturday Night Live,” starred in a dating competition series called “Catching Kelce,” and recently made his debut as a film producer with “My Dead Friend Zoe.”

Kelce has hinted about plans to dip his toes into entertainment following his appearance on “SNL” last year, telling the Los Angeles Times that he had been focused on football but that “there’s definitely Hollywood talks out there.”

He also said his preferred genre is comedy.

“I’m comedy all the way,” he said. “I just like to have a fun time and make people laugh.”
