(NBC News) – It’s crunch time for florists across the country, with Valentine’s Day this week!
Although the percentage of Americans celebrating the romantic holiday has been steadily declining, the amount of money to be spent romancing those you love is expected to set a new record this year.
The average person is expected to spend roughly $162 on flowers, candy or meals out according to the National Retail Federation.
A Bankrate survey found men more likely than women to spend more on Valentine’s Day, and younger millennials lead all age groups at spending the most, with an average of $266.
