NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk could be ditching curbside recycling this spring.
TFC Recycling said in a post on its website the city is considering getting rid of curbside services after March 31.
The company said in the post over 75 percent of Norfolk residents recycle on a regular basis, but the city claims the recycling market is facing challenges nationwide.
The city says China’s new restrictions on recycling imports, the decline in the national recycling market and the lack of a market for glass are contributors to the challenges in a powerpoint presentation they created for the Norfolk City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 26.

According to the city of Norfolk’s website, curbside collection happens every other week on the same day as trash collection. Residents can find their recycling schedule at this link.
