NORFOLK, Va (WAVY) — Officials in Norfolk area looking to purchase and demolish two additional properties in order to improve beach access in Ocean View.
Tuesday evening, Norfolk City Council will vote on whether to spend just over $1 million to buy the “Beach Pub” Restaurant and neighboring apartment building in the 1000 block of East Ocean View Avenue. Both properties are owned by Virginia Beach based Bay-B-Dal, LLC.
“The City is acquiring these lots for increased public safety purposes and for added open
space and beach access in this area,” the agenda read.
Both buildings have a combined assessed value of $962,600 and part of the cities payment includes money to buy-out leases for each property.
Calls to “Beach Pub” went unanswered Monday.
Norfolk’s council voted to purchase the neighboring Ocean View Diner and Greenies earlier in the year. While Oceanview Diner remains open, Greenies closed in September.
A city spokesperson said demolition for Greenies is slated to occur in the next several weeks.
