Nofolk man sentenced in opioid crackdown

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk man will spend ten years in prison as part of Operation Chasing Oxy, according to Eastern District of Virginia U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger.

Prosecutors said Deonte Farrow was part of a group of nine people who conspired to fraudulently get and sell about 9,000 Oxycodone pills in Hampton Roads.

Court documents said from February to September 2017 Deonte Farrow helped lead a conspiracy to illegally get the pills from pharmacies in Hampton Roads to resell them for profit. Investigators believe Farrow and Quentia Fields used home computer printers and registration number of real doctors to create prescriptions.

Prosecutors said they used other people to fill the prescriptions at pharmacies and even used a pharmacy employee to make the prescription orders to look real. Sentences for others convicted in the scheme are listed below.
