NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One man is dead after a shooting early Saturday morning in the Calvert Square community according to Norfolk Police Department.

Around 5:15 a.m., officers were called to the 800 block of Wide Street for report of a shooting according to a department release. When they arrived, they found one man who had been shot.

That man, identified as Terrance Moore, 37, died at the scene.

No suspect information had been released as of Saturday night.

That fact troubles Kimberly Mason, Moore’s aunt.

“I just I broke down and started crying,” Mason said, upon hearing the news Saturday morning. “That that really hurts. It hurts and is is going to hurt. Because that’s a part of us.”

Moore lived in Calvert Square according to Mason, but was at a party Friday night in another unit. From what she has heard, he got into an argument with someone else. She thinks that argument lead to the gunfire.

“And I pray whoever did it, I pray that they, they find it in their heart to turn himself in and do the right thing,” Mason said. “Do the right thing.”

Moore leaves behind four children a was most recently working at BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair.

“He was very much a part of their lives,” Mason said. “One of his daughters told me today ‘my daddy told me he’d never leave me’.”
