Currituck County, N.C. (WAVY) — Currituck County High School administrators said two knives were were confiscated by law enforcement Wednesday morning after they received a report of a student with a weapon on campus.

District officials sent the following letter to families:

Currituck County Schools is releasing the following information as part of our commitment to ensuring communication with our families and safety in our schools:

Currituck County High School administration received a report concerning a student potentially possessing a weapon on campus. The administration responded appropriately by immediately involving law enforcement and investigating the report, which led to the discovery and confiscation of two knives.

Appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken.

District officials would like to thank those who took the the appropriate steps to contact school administrators with their concerns. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff, and we work diligently daily to provide safe learning environment, not tolerating any factors risking such.

As always, we appreciate the efforts of local law enforcement as we all work together to keep our students, staff, and schools safe.
