CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Currituck County’s Sheriff’s Deputy was hit by a vehicle on Friday morning while at a stop sign, deputies said.

The deputy was sitting stationary at a stop sign on Taylors Road when a vehicle heading northbound on U.S. Hwy 168 left the lane of travel and struck the front driver side portion of the Sheriff vehicle.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain lane and a seatbelt violation. No major injuries were reported.
