BARCO, N.C. (WAVY) – The Crawford Volunteer Fire Department responded to an accident on Shortcut Road involving a school bus Tuesday morning.
According to officials, no students were harmed in the accident, but said the car that hit the bus caught fire.
Images officials provided of the crash scene show the vehicle involved has significant damage.
The driver of the truck was transferred to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The vehicle fire was put out within seven minutes by an off-duty deputy, according to officials.
“Please pay attention to school buses while driving,” officials said. “They are constantly stopping to pick up kids and at all railway crossings.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
