GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A deputy was injured in a head-on crash in Guilford County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Just before 8 p.m. on Monday, troopers responded to a crash on I-73 near NC 68. Troopers said that David Brown, 79, of Archdale, was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of the interstate when he hit a marked Guilford County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle heading south head-on.

Brown and the deputy suffered minor injuries. Brown has been charged with driving while impaired, driving the wrong way on the highway and careless and reckless driving.

Dashcam video submitted to FOX8 shows the perspective of a vehicle heading south on I-73, when a white pickup truck with a trail comes speeding the wrong direction in the far left lane.

Noah Goots’s dash camera captured a white truck heading in the wrong direction in the far left lane going toward his Honda Elantra.

“I yanked the wheel … over real quick, and I’d seen him miss a car a few up from me, and I was like … ‘I hope everybody’s fine,'” Goots said.

The interstate was closed for around an hour while highway patrol investigated.
