DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Deputies in Dare County arrested a woman on drug charges on Wednesday.
Around 11:30 p.m., deputies conducted a routine patrol in the Public Vehicular Area of Colington Harbor Marina and came across a woman sitting in a vehicle. During the encounter a K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of an illegal controlled substance, deputies said.
Officers found a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, which was subsequently seized.
The individual, identified as 44-year-old Cheryl Hightman has been arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hightman has been issued a $5,000 secured bond.
