ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Norfolk teen was shot in Elizabeth City Monday night, according to Elizabeth City police.
Just after 10 p.m., officers responded to the River’s Landing Apartment complex for a report that a passenger inside a vehicle had been shot.
When officers arrived on the scene they were told the victim had been taken to Albemarle Sentara Medical Center.
Police said the driver hit three unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot while trying to escape the gunfire.
During the investigation, police determined the victim was a 17-year-old from Norfolk. Police said the teen was treated for non life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Police are still investigating this incident.
