GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The City of Greensboro closed down The Lost Diamond, a newly permitted restaurant at 948 Walker Ave.

Greensboro City Council members and the city manager’s office have been receiving complaints of loud noises, sounds of gunshots, disturbances and increased traffic.

The Greensboro Fire Department inspected the business on June 4 and found that it was not in compliance with its permitting, according to a press release from Jake Keys, communications manager for the City of Greensboro.

An inspection by Greensboro police officers, serving as members of the ABC Task Force, confirmed the business did comply with ABC laws.

Despite the establishment being approved as a “restaurant” with “no hookah,” inspectors heard loud music and saw the business operating as a nightclub.

The business was closed by the fire department and the city’s zoning enforcement team, and zoning will issue a notice of violations for new use without proper permitting and illegal use, including issues of proximity to property zoned as residential.

On Wednesday, The Lost Diamond posted on Instagram, “Last night upon inspection at 1:00 a.m. the fire marshals found fire alarm system updates were needed and informed us that our hood systems need servicing. Due to these violations we will be closed tonight! Will update everyone as we get new info! Thank you and see you soon.”

The business will remain closed until operators return to the original use as a restaurant or a change of use is granted.
