GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — March Madness is on the horizon and Tobacco Road schools won’t be the only ones competing in a tournament.
Niffler, an African penguin at the Greensboro Science Center, will be competing in Penguins International’s March of the Penguin Madness competition to determine the world’s favorite penguin.
The official title for winning the competition is “Peng Win Champion.” The winner will be immortalized in the Iceberg Hall of Heroes.
Niffler is looking to make a deep run in the tournament and possibly even go all the way in an amazing Cinderella story.
Niffler is a 2-year-old female who enjoys swimming gracefully in the water and spending time with her keepers. She also has an affinity for shiny objects which could take her all the way to the Final Four.
Voting opens on Sunday and you can vote for Niffler on the March of the Penguin Madness website.
