NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) – Two officers with the Nags Head Police Department were awarded on Wednesday after saving a man who was not breathing.
On Feb. 5, Officer Flaugher and Officer Hashigami were given the Lifesaving Award for their combined lifesaving efforts while dispatched for a man, known as Mr. Umphlett, who was unconscious and not breathing. With the help of Nags Head Fire Rescue and Dare EMS, Umphlett was able to make a full recovery.

According to a Facebook post, the Lifesaving Award is given to officers to recognize bravery, quick thinking and dedication to protecting lives.
