COLINGTON, N.C. (WAVY) – The Colington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential fire early Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, crews were notified of a home that had been struck by lightning on Feb. 13 shortly before 3 a.m. in the 100 block of Colington Creek Drive near Kill Devil Hills.
Fire crews arrived to the scene and found fire at the top of the residence in a concealed wall.
The occupants of the residence were able to safely escape, and a cat was eventually reunited with the owners. No injuries were reported.
Crews cleared the scene shortly after 5:30 a.m.
